Aromatic Allure

From the moment you step through the doors of The Lab, your senses are tantalized by a captivating aroma that fills the air. The place smells absolutely delightful, setting the stage for a sensory journey like no other. It’s an instant mood-setter and a unique element of your experience at this cocktail bar.

Acoustic Bliss

As you settle in, the live music takes centre stage, with the soulful strumming of an acoustic guitar serenading your ears. The live acoustic music creates a serene and intimate ambience, elevating your evening to a different level. Whether you’re a music enthusiast or simply seeking the warm and cosy vibe that live music provides, The Lab has got you covered.

A Chilly Reception

One thing to remember is that the temperature inside The Lab can be a bit on the chilly side. It’s advisable to bring an extra layer or two to ensure your comfort throughout the evening. While the slight chill can be seen as an opportunity to cosy up with your favourite drink, it’s essential to be prepared for the cooler indoor climate.

Minimal Security

On the security front, The Lab has only one guard in place. While the bar may not require extensive security personnel, the presence of a single guard may be a consideration for some patrons. However, the intimate and relaxed atmosphere at this establishment often negates the need for a large security team.

Disconnected Yet Inviting

In today’s connected world, it’s notable that The Lab provides little to no phone reception or Wi-Fi. While it may initially seem like a drawback, it can also be seen as an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the sensory experience without digital distractions. The lack of connectivity contributes to the bar’s inviting and captivating ambience.

The Lab’s Liquid Creations

Now, let’s delve into the heart of the experience—the drinks. The Lab offers a range of cocktails with unique and creative names, each with its own distinct character.

  • Cambridge Gravity (8.5/10): This delightful creation exudes a Christmassy vibe with its orangey and cinnamon notes. It’s a warm and comforting choice, perfect for the season.
  • Long Island (6/10): While the Long Island is a classic favourite, it seems to lean a bit heavily on the lime cordial, which might not suit everyone’s taste.
  • Steven Hawking (7/10): This cocktail offers a satisfactory experience, with a rating of 7/10, showcasing a pleasant blend of flavours.
  • Total Knockout (7.2/10): While it didn’t contain coffee as expected, it still reminded one of a simple espresso martini, earning a respectable 7.2/10 rating.
  • Chain Reaction (9/10): Among the offerings, the Chain Reaction shines as a top contender, receiving an impressive 9/10 rating. Its intriguing and delectable combination clearly sets it apart.

While the drinks are undoubtedly creative and intriguing, they might not strike you as particularly strong. The focus here is more on the overall experience and flavour profiles rather than sheer potency. “The Lab” is an ideal place to take a date, offering an intimate and inviting setting. However, it might not be your go-to destination for a pre-night-out party experience.
