What is working in the industry like?

Working in the industry definitely has its ups and downs, it can be a difficult job, however it is great fun and accomplishing at the same time.

I personally love working in the industry, it has great perks and you meet the best people. I have made so many great friends, as well as making connections to be able to receive the perks of the job. Being able to run my own event is a great example of one of the perks that come with working in the industry. Being able to learn how to run an event, learning how much work goes on behind the scenes that allows clubs to bring you some amazing events is really interesting to learn about, but it is a lot of hard work.
For me personally, running an event has allowed me to meet so many new people, whether it is staff at the venues, or getting to know regular customers. Everywhere you go you receive a smile and get to know some amazing people.

One of the downsides I have found, is when an event you are managing does not do too well. Running an event is hard work, and it takes a lot of effort to be able to bring you events that you enjoy. It can be really disheartening to see an event close early due to not having a lot of attendees, but you pick yourself up, and move into the next event. Hire fees can also be a huge issue when running an event. Venues have to make enough money to pay their staff (obviously), however it can be extremely difficult to hit their bar spend, or have enough ticket sales to ensure enough people will be in the venue, but you never know how many people you are going to have through the doors. Yet working hard on an event is still a rewarding feeling in itself.

Being able to work in the industry is such an accomplishing and fun field of work, and I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning how events are run, promotion works, or even just to make friends.
